I like flying R/C kites. A.K.A pointing the plane into the wind on a windy day with enough power to make it stay airborne while keeping the plane level. I thought this past Sunday would be perfect for the UM Sukhoi (5-10mph). Well, one stronger than anticipated gust while I was landing in anticipation of the gust and she cartwheeled. Vertical stab broke at the fuse and the rudder's bottom hinge broke.

Waiting to put the order in until after Christmas in the hopes of things being received from the Christmas list that would require an order. I'm grounded (both the Blade CP and UM Sukhoi need parts ordered) until the order happens. :thumbs down:

So I did some thinking about this repair. Since the replacement rudder and vertical stab parts come together and are being shown as "backorder" on HH's site, I started thinking of how I could make a quicker repair. I came up with some ideas and would like some feedback as to if any of them would work or should I just wait indefinitely for the parts to be come in.

1. Glue the vertical stab back in place with foam safe CA and use tape for the bottom rudder hinge. I'm not sure how well the tape will work as a hinge.

2. Glue the vertical stab back in place with foam safe CA and tape the rudder in place, effectively making it a 3 channel plane (not my preferred choice). I find I use rudder more than many airplane pilots (guess that comes from the heli flying).

3. Just order the parts and wait. ::irked::

I'd like to hear everyone's feedback or suggestions for something better.

I vote for repair number 1... except tape the rudder on both sides so the force on the rudder wont cause the tail to peel.
