Here's what happens when you get cocky and loose airspeed in the wind... and get dumb thumbs...
You have to love the composite wing hold down tubes, the rubber bands dug 1 inch into the L/E of the wing and they are not cracked, another motor mount, cowling, spinner, and the Vertical Stab has torn off. I might go ahead and just buy new parts and start over, but then again maybe i can find something ARF and use my parts on it.
For what it's worth the tail dragger mod is awesome in this tall grass and goat field we have here. I put the 3 inch wheels back on the front.

I would say either buy replacement parts...the fuse, cowling, motor mount, and tail feathers or by the PNP version that is being released next month (I think thats the release date)
I look at it like this...if the motor and ESC are still good you have good upgrade motor for the T-28 or Corsair as the motors should use the same mounting pattern and even if they dont a little work and you could still get her mounted.
Crashes do have a positive...thats were we get all these "extra" motors, ESC, servo, wheels that are lying around in your "shops"...they're not really extra just whats left a ill fated plane!! :'(

For the value I would not purchase the PNP. Just get the cowl, mount and vertical stab. Can you glue the stab? Let us know what potential planes you are looking at before jumping, some commentary on their characteristics may be helpful.
Sad day for your Apprentice there but next time you'll keep the air speed up a bit so you've learned. Did the plane stall and roll in after going too slow?

When I bought mine the entire tail was busted off in front of the tail feathers...so I epoxied the entire tail back on!! More then likely it can be saved.

I missed the point of the question though I see.... Upgrade?
1) Hmm well are you ready for a faster more agile plane?
2) Did you have the servo arms cranked up with the control arms on the inner most hole on this Apprentice?
3) Could you have more learning to do with this airframe?
4) Can you fly below 30 feet or so for a whole battery and not have any mishaps? Having this low altitude flight experience can help you learn to control the plane accurately and quickly, if you ave this mastered you may need something more challenging.
5) Can you fly inverted a whole circuit around your airfield.
6) Do you find yourself near or at WOT for a good portion or all of your flight?
If most these questions you can answer yes to, then maybe it is time to upgrade otherwise get the couple parts you need put it together and grow more with your plane.

Great points here Wayne and something I didn't think about. Yes i am ready for a faster plane, but skillfully not ready.

It's all good.
I'm working on a proto type metal motor mount. If i get it worked out i'll take pics and post em.
The next step up is the T-28 or Corsair...the T-28 being easier to ROG and land due to the Tryc LG.
I would have to follow Wayne on this... he asked some very pointed questions...but for a good reason. Its hard in this hobby to "stay within or within reach of your skills"... what I mean be that is if we crash a plane we rarely replace it will something similuar but rather "jump" a few planes a head to the newly released plane X.... without thinking about that it curtails.
I vote for fix her and keep flying her....learn to fly the wings off of her and moving up will be easy and less expensive...your first trainer should be beat to death when you retire it!!
