I've been involved in model building for 43 years (started at 5 years old with a plastic B-29). My father retired as a Major in the AF and was a Command Pilot. Needless to say, I grew up as an AF brat and have been around airplanes all my life. I graduated up to flying CL when I was about 8, and started RC about 25 years ago with a Gentle Lady 2M glider. Progressed into Nitro about a year after that and now into electrics (price of fuel a big part of that).

I am retired from the Army Reserve after serving 29 years (both Active and Reserve) as a Lt Col. I am also a Dept of the Army civilian in my real job.

I have held the club positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Newsletter Editor, Instructor, and Contest Director in two different RC clubs over the past few years, so I guess you can say I have been around the block. I have also been a members of AMA for over 25 years.

I still fly Nitro (love that smell and the sound of a tuned engine) I don't think that I'll ever fully change over to electric. I'm a warbird flier as primary, but still enjoy sport, pylon racing, and some gliders. I have about 15+ nitro airframes ready to go flying within 3 to 4 hours (transferring engines around!) Currently I have 7 electric planes - GP P-47 w/PowerUp 480; H9 Mini Ultra Stick w/PowerUp 450; E-Flite PT-19 w/PowerUp 480; an Indoor Vapor; BH Stroch w/Park 370; a Depron Eagle; and a Spectra 2M Glider with a 450.

Henderson RC Flying Club is located in Sherwood, AR. We have 4 instructors in the club (I am the primary) We will provide the plane for the first time out, but after your hooked, you have to supply your own. We also have buddy boxes located at the field for all major radio brands. We do not tell you that you'll never crash during the instruction periods, but 99% of the time, you go home with your plane in the same number of pieces that you brought it out in! www.hendersonrc.com is the club website

For your 1st time, you do not have to be a member of AMA, but after that you have to have AMA.

We fly during the weekends (weather permiting) all year. We are a "Morning Club" and usually someone will be there starting at 7:30 to 8:00. Normally we are finsihed by 12 due to the sun's location.

If any of you come to the Little Rock area, just drop me a note. Bring a plane and we'll go flying.
