Lets be honest up front, alot of us have been waiting on these for a long time, me included. They come packed securely in a nice little box.

Whats in the box:

(1) Steerable nose wheel retract
(2) Main wheel retract
(1) 3 to 1 Y harness
(3) Wheel shafts with hex screws

Whats not included:

- Mounting screws (need 12 of them)
- push rod clevis (for nose wheel steering connection)

Instillation:

Pretty straight forward if your plane is set up/designed for retracts. Just measure the length of the legs of your old gear and mark the legs of your retracts. Then use a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut off the excess wire. Place the wheel axel on the leg so you can see where to grind the flat spots so the hex screws have a flat spot to grab. This is important or your wheels will twist on the shaft and your take off or landing could get interesting. Run the servo wire to the Y harness.

The only difference for the nose wheel is to attach the pushrod. The pushrod mount can be moved to the other side if needed which is a great feature to ensure that the nose wheel turns the same direction as the rudder.

Once everything is installed and tighten down give them a test run.

TIPS:

Remember to use a little thin CA on the wood mounting surface before you mount the retracts but AFTER you predrill the pilot holes....this will stregthen the wood and give the screws something to bit into.

Safety Feature:

The servos have an anti over amp feature menaing if they snag on something or get jammed that retract will stop and turn off...the others will continue till they hit their stop points.

Summary:

What can I say, I love them. Set up is by the easiest I have ever had with retracts... no end point adjustments, no crazy linkages, no failing to lock open or closed...no of the old headaches. The legs and wheel axels are sold feeling and dont feel like they will bend. they are chrome plated so they will look good for a long time if you fly off of wet grass. The simple install and ease of use make them very impressive.

They look to be about 2.5" long.

Do you have any other dimensions?

What did you use to cut the perfect wheel well?

And, what would you do differently?

Any chance to get a pic without the cowling?
