The EFlite Ultra Micro 4-Site comes very well packed in small box the size of a laptop case with pull out foam braces that hold the 4-Site in place!
Purchased From:
http://www.horizonrcflyers.com/banners/GBIhobbies2.gif (http://www.gbihobbies.com)
Whats in the Box:
(1) Ultra Micro 4-Site
(1) Celectra charger (with wall plug)
(2) 1s 150mah 12C lipo's
(1) bag of velcro
(2) Airbrakes
Whats not in the Box:
(1) TX
Build:
There is no build, charge the lipo, bind and go fly!! Takes 5 minutes from box to first flight unless you want to use the optional airbrakes!! The airbrakes are installed with foam safe CA. Total build time even with airbrakes is 5 minutes.
Preflight:
Verify that all control surfaces move in the correct direction and that the CG is set at 40mm from LE of the top wing. Balancing her is a little tricky as the micro servos get in the way so I made my marks and then moved them out passed the servos so my fingers could rest on the marks. Remember she is a 3d machine so the recommended CG will make her neutral so the elevator will be a tad bit touchy compared to other planes, however this will help with inverted flight.
REPORT CARD:
Good:
- Easy to follow instructions
- Great looking plane
- Two lipos
- Celectra charger (charges 4 lipos at once!!)
Bad:
- No spare prop
FLIGHT REPORT:
Weather:
- Sunny with calm winds gusting to 7mph!!

Maiden:
I bond her to a DX7 and this took two tries to get her to bind and a good 15 seconds. She is not as fast as the SU-26m with the airbrakes on, but part of that might have been the wind. Take offs were easy (both ROG and HL) but once in the air throttle back a little unless you're flying outside then you might need to stay on her to fight the wind as I flew her at WOT the entire time. I found it difficult to trim her accurately in the gusts and when heading into the wind the airbrakes brought her to a near stall and the nose would climb as she crawled forward fighting for ever inch of forward progress. Rolls are nice and very fast on high rates heading into the wind and I used the "intermidiate" setting for all my surfaces. Ailerons were the only surface to get high rates as thats my normal set up on planes. I didnt try any loops at the moment as she gets small very fast in the field behind the house and the wind wasnt helping and I kept finding myself over the pond which has a history of eating planes during maidens so I tried to keep my distance.
All in all she is a nice flyer and will be a great backyard flyer (20-40 foot field will be perfect for having a blast or even up and down the street if you have a little space) and hopefully next month I will get to fly her at GBI's next Indoor Fun Fly. She shouldnt have an issue with winds of 5mph or less if you are experienced with agile planes and flying in the wind. For those just starting out flying 3d planes I would wait for a calm day and get used to her.
Report Card:
ROG: Easy and relaxing
Speed: 5-15mph forward speed,
Landing: Easy,
Rolls: fast (360* per second at my settings)
Loops: You need a little speed to get over the top, especially as the lipo wears down.
Inverted: Smooth and requires a little down elevator
Prop Hangs: Are possible, I am not a 3d guy but I came close a couple of times
Beginner: No, too fast for beginner indoor, but would make a nice second plane on a calm day outside.
Summary:
Beautiful plane that looks just like her big brother. She is tough enough to take the unplanned nose in's when the lipo dies and the wind is kicking her around without damage. The color scheme and speed are perfect for this plane but the flat foam profile will take a little getting used to as she is small. I managed to get two more flights in this evening with calmer winds. She is a great flyer on a calm day and the rolls are a blast while loops require some speed. I need to work on the CG as I have mine at 35mm and thats too far forward. Stick with the 40mm recommendation and you wont need alot of down elevator while inverted.
