This was a story that buzzed around the local area. My take on the the story was the pilots didn't break the law, per say, they just didn't have a permit for landing that day on that lake. So in essence did violate the law but it is perfectly legal to land on a lake frozen or not but some lakes I assume especially metro lakes in parks require a permit.
I imagine these permits when applied for check the local area for ice-fishing contests, snowmobile races, cross-country ski days and other widespread events that would lead to a potential conflict.

If tomorrow was Sunday I'd be all over it, I have an obligation to meet all day tomorrow. I appreciate the opportunity to come meet you guys, we WILL get together especially once the Tarmacs are open.
Do you have an area at your field to land with wheels or are skis a must for your airfield too during winter months? My field is skis only as of right noe in the winter months I hope to get that changed.
I have been having a few fun flights by my house with the Apprentice, I am using my road as the Tarmac.
Thanks again for the invite, I will meet you there some time.

No way -- don't plow!
1. hard on asphalt
2. can't just plow -- gotta move snow further than that
3. don't like landing or taking off from a pool table
4. opens the field up for 4 wheelers that ruin ot it/tear it up
5. ruins the good area for skis!
Ever think of joining MARCEE ( www.marcee.org ) local clubs fight to host our summer meetings -- they like their members to see the latets stuff flying E. We normally hit 4 or 5 different club sites.

MARCEE, I can pass it along and see how everyone feels.
Sure I hear you about stuff getting tore up on the fields, had a few issues ourself with that. Now Sheriff visits frequently during the flying months and the invasions/vandalism have ceased. As a matter of fact, the farmer we lease from calls the Sheriff the moment something doesn't look right
There must be some LEAN way of removing snow from a Tarmac and not tear up the underlay. Some sort of device could be invented. This demands a 3P workout!

CCRC in High Point, NC, had the same problem. We installed a security camera, caught the kid on camera, and posted his picture on the bulletin board. The vandalism stopped after that.
We have motion detector spots on the club house and sign saying under video survalence -- "simulated" cameras though.
The cops always seem to know who the culprits are.
Was great -- 8 flights on the Toledo Special!

How long are those Toledo flights and with what battery? I am sure it was a blast wish I could've been there!!!!!
Wayne
TX timer set to 7minutes; usually land with 10-20 seconds of count up: 7:20.
Avg MAH is 1250 and recharges in about 4 minutes!
Love them A123s!
Jetti 77 Opto w/Scorpion 4025-16 on A123-8S w/14x10 APCE.
PS: will bump the timer up to 8 -- love the auto timer start of the 9503!
The A123s are 2300mah, and I draw about 25amps @ WOT (not used too much, only for high speed passes).

WOW incredible 4 minutes, Super GULP batteries! That is some charge rate.
Wayne
Yep!
My power supply does up to 20amps & 50volts -- takes twice as long to charge the 10S2Ps in my 1/4 Cub; but only 1minute of charge is needed for each minute I fly.
All my conversion use A123s.
