VERY Impressive flying Chris of RiteWing. Great job putting her together ATIS as well as awesome video, hard to keep up with that one.

I MIGHT NEED TO GET ME ONE OF THEM! I like the HUGE G's you can pull with that thing in the corners.

Yesterday had twisty winds with gusts upto 20 mph so flying was limited. Once the sun dropped the wind dropped for a little while but slowly picked up. Not sure if we will fly today as the rain has already arrived.

The AWAC was prety cool. What motors was the airplane running. Guessing 4 Power10's.

Very nice flying and good job keepning the wing under her, acts like a heavily loaded wing. Very COOL.

Bummer on the VooDoo, the landing looked fine I thought until accidentally had a bad break on the slide.

Lots of birds in the sky! FUN FUN Fun!

Thanks ATIS,
Wayne

The Ritewing NightFlyer looked awesome.

Most definitely I could see orientation being an easy issue on this plane especially at night. She looked great though!

Is HorizonHobby or any of their subsidiaries such as E-Flite, Hobbyzone, Parkzone, Hangar9, Spektrum etc. etc. set up yet? Any of them flying or debuting any of their new treats like the F-86, LR-1A, Extra300 32, SU-26XP, Blade mCX2, Champ or the presumed DX-8?

Fun fun fun looks like a lot of cool planes and people.

Here are the picts from Friday...slow internet here at the hotel so I didnt get them loaded. HH is set up and they did a noon time demo...all I can say is that I am all over the F-86 (100 mph out of the box... I couldnt track her on the video!) and the Pogo is a blast to watch and fast. The Mig that Jason Cole of Hobby Lobby is looking at hit me on the flight line during the flight...lost it in a cross wind while I was making some corrections to the Griffen at the pilot station. I got hit in the heal as I leaned out of the way at the last second. No biggies, but I busted on Jason about it all day. LOL

The weather has sucked this year... lots of wind during the day (18mph gusts) and rain so I didn tget nearly as much flying as I had hoped or planned. Once the sun set the wind dropped so I would get in 3-4 night flights before I had to head back to town to eat. Americus rolls up the streets at 11pm...EVERYTHING is closed by 11pm...even Wendy's and their "late night" drive thru.

Bryan,
Any word on new releases? Talk of a Platinum warbird and such. One fella is now talking about a Grumman Tigercat. Have you been pressing the HH reps for any news? I saw pics of a Clipped Spitfire. Is that a mod or production? I know there was a great custom Parkzone P-51B there that was just a one off. That looked amazing:cool:
Blessings,
Jay

Jay,

No word on the platinum warbird...HH is notorious for being tight lipped. I did get comfirmation the new Spektrum TX was the 8 channel but the housing isnt the same as the DX6i so it should fit hands better. The P-51B is a modified PZ P-51... do a search for "Sparky" on here as he sells "mod" kits for all the PZ birds. Cockpits and bombs for the Corsair and such. The Clipped Spit was a mod one of the HH pilots did for fun so if you want that look your going to need to buy another wing or climp your current one.

Wayne, the RiteWing is easier at night, during the day the LE of the wing is so thin that flying at you you dont see a thing...you just hear the motor. Its thesame after you pass. So unless you are in a constant bank you have to just "know" what the wing is doing and where it is. At night the lights make it alot easier.

MAN DOWN! Wow that must've caught your attention. Glad you didn't get hurt.

Got my attention but no pain, the Mig has a 15" WS I think.

Here are the last of the video's till I get home. I gotta pack up and go back and pick up the trailer and planes this morning and start the 10 hour drive home. The Panther is now mine, John was going to sell her and I couldnt let her leave the group. Great flyer.

Thanks for all the pics and vids Bryan, do you know if the elite jet has landing gear?

Yes, the EFlite F-86 has landing gear...or you can HL and belly flop her.

Here is Mac Hodges B-29 video from his noon time show....its a big file, almost 10 minutes long and I recorded in high definition as always. Its well worth the wait so start it and then pause it and let it down load. If you have never seen him perform you will be heavily impressed.

I wish I still had my B-29. Long story, but I wonder where it is now. It had a 7' wingspan and 6' fuselage, all balsa.

The B-29 pilot is nuts with a 90 pound plane. I was waiting for it to break apart.

The pilot is Mac Hodges, he owns the field that SEFF takes place at...and the hobby shop located right next to the field.

Very cool Mac Hodges piloted B-29. I thought for certain on the inverted loop the vertical stab was going to drag on the ground.

He knows this plane very well and is not afraid to fly her. For sure this must've been even more awesome field-side!

Good video work ATIS!

I hung out with a guy named David Platt. I recommend you all google him. He designed all the planes used in the movie Battle of Britan (I was relieved to find out they destroyed models and not the real deals). He is a master builder/designer and has forgotten more about the hobby then I will ever know.

I first saw Hodges with his B-29 at Joe Nall about 8 years ago. This year it almost looked like he wasn't going to be able to bring the B-29 to SEFF. According to threads on RCGroups he was doing a flat spin about 3 weeks ago and inboard motor died on him. He didn't have enough power to pull out, so it flat spun to the ground. He spent 2 weeks prior to SEFF rebuilding, this time putting bigger power plants on the beast.

It's truly a masterpiece in both building and flying. If you are at SEFF or Joe Nall, you have to watch his demo.
