Hey, all. My name is Erwin (http://www.maydayrc.com/about-me) and I fly electric planes in Miami and around South Florida. The only Horizon model I own at the moment is a Super Cub (http://www.maydayrc.com/our-models/bl-super-cub).
See my models (http://www.maydayrc.com/our-models) and more at my RC blog, www.MAYDAYRC.com (http://www.maydayrc.com).
Welcome. Looks like you have decent flying weather year round.

Erwin,
Welcome aboard glad to have you at HorizonRcFlyers! I see you are relatively new but with all the nice weather in Florida you should get plenty of flying time and you'll advance quickly!
I see you have already made the jump to a brushless SuperCub and you also have one of the only Nose Gear Super Cubs I have ever seen. I as well run a 2200mAH battery and flight times are great.
Glad to have you aboard, go check out the reviewed newer products and I look forward to seeing you expand your interests.
Welcome,
Wayne

Thanks! Yeah, weather is consistent year-round but pretty windy most of the time.
I forgot to mention, I'm a web developer and designer so if you need help with that around here, I'd be willing to help.

Hi Erwin, welcome to the board! I lived there in Miami Lakes before moving here to Maryland. I was in one of the Graham-family-owned apartment complexes right by the little faux-Main-Street mall thingy in the center of Miami Lakes. That was before I took up RC flying though, when I was flying full-size planes for a living (I got my DC-9 checkride at an isolated field out west of there in the Everglades, in the dead of night). From my recollection, there are quite a few places in the area that would be great for flying RC floatplanes, if they would allow you to. Did you get the floats for your Cub? I got a set, but haven't yet gotten around to installing them. I did try floats once on my GWS E-Starter. It was kind of frustrating because of the tendency to swerve this way or that during takeoff acceleration, without a water rudder.

herk1, yes, there are lots of warterways and lakes here but best of all, I have a lake right behind the house! It's my own private float-plane strip :D I do have floats; just see the links in the first post:
Super Cub on Floats (http://www.maydayrc.com/our-models/bl-super-cub)
Here are Three Videos onboard over the Lake at The Moors (http://www.maydayrc.com/flying-over-the-lake)
P.S. :) should not replace : ) it's ugly :(

Hi, Erwin! Welcome to the forum! There's lots of very friendly and helpful people here that have lots of experience and are always happy to help.
Looks like you have some awesome planes, how do you like your HK Pitts? I've been considering one of those. They look very cool.
Regards,
Mike

The Pitts is fantastic! It's very responsive and, at times, a little twitchy; great characteristics of aerobatic models. It's a lot of fun to flylow and SLOOOWWW 2-4 feet from the ground and around obstacles - something I came to love with my Super Cub.
Welcome Erwin,
Glad to have you on board with us. This is a great place to share and learn. We have some great folks here who are very willing to help and advise.
Take care,
Ken
