Hi all,

Any thoughts on NEFI in Muncie later this month? My 15 year old nephew will be visiting me then and I'm thinking about taking him down there. It's about a 3 hour 48 minute drive. Do you think it would be worth it?

From AMA's website: http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/NEFI.aspx

It looks like a good time. You'll likely see a couple hundred R/C aircraft and I would expect plenty of flying.

IN ADDITION to the R/C Part Special Guest/Pilot is Robert "Hoot" Gibson, a mutli time space shuttle commander and all around very accompished American Hero. Mr Gibson has done and achieved some incredible feats, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_L._Gibson The opportunity to shake this guy's hand, hear a few stories of things not many will ever get a chance to do would make the visit very interesting to me if I were to be rather close to the show. Take a read on Wikipedia of Mr. Gibson and his accomplishments, this man is the real deal!

Thanks, Wayne,

We've decide to go and have a blast. Being relatively new to this hobby, I think it would be beneficial for me and my nephew to go and observe how other folks set up and what they use and what they have in their flight boxes and so forth, to get ideas on how to make it better. And of course, to see Hoot as well.

Great approach to this. Being 25 yrs old and 25 yrs in the hobby, I'm always interested in what the veterans are using/doing and any neat tips/tricks I can pick up. Large gatherings like NEFI, SEFF, Joe Nall, Fly for Tots, Open Houses, Fly-Ins, etc.... are great places to learn and expand knowledge in our hobby.

Yep, you're right, and this will be my first RC event. My nephew's too, so we both are looking forward to it very much.
