Hello all,
This is my first season in this hobby. I got started with airplane models 30 years ago. I always wanted to get into RC but it was expensive back then. My parents got me a car and a 2 channel Futaba AM radio, the car is long gone but the radio still works. I knew nothing about Horizon Hobby but saw thier name popping up all the time. I now shop exclusively with Horizon Hobby. They make great products and have great customer service. This is what I have so far
2 T-34's with DX6i's
Phoenix with DX5e
CX3
MCX
J-3 micro cub
Ascent 450 BL glider
Champ
Pasport
Passport Ultra
2 Tx case
single Tx case
other miscellaneous accessories
This hobby has been very rewarding, I am mainly into electric power. As an electrician with a degree in electronics I find the electric power very fascinating.

VP, welcome to the forum!! Poke around at the reviews and other areas, ask any questions that you might have, or just some flight stories!
This hobby is three things... rewarding, addicting, and expensive! (I leave the expensive part out when I talk to my wife. LOL )

Hi ATIS
Thanks for the welcome, I dont think it is that expensive compared to some other hobbies (unless you crash alot) I think it is reasonable compared to the prices from the past. Some people spend almost $20 grand on a single Harley Davidson, and how about boating? If you want me to compile a list for your wife I would be happy to!

VP,
I guess I should say it adds up...4 TX's, 3 Triton chargers, 64 planes (ready to fly), 4 heli's, and a briefcase filled with lipos...plus the trailer I bought to carry my gear to SEFF every year (no joke, I have only used it 3 times in the 2 yrs I have owned it... twice for SEFF and once to help a friend move!)
I do understand your point...for what I have spent I could have bought only 1 boat or Harley and the money has been spent over the last 5 yrs and not all at once...lucky for me the wife supports this hobby since I am always happier after flying!

How long have you been at this hobby? You really have 64 planes?
VP
I have been in for 5 years...check the hangar section as I have picts posted of my garage. Now you know why I call it an addiction! :)

Pete, welcome to the site :)
Thanks for the welcome, This is an interesting exclusive forum you have here, glad to have found you guys!

VP,
We have a section for all other planes. Currently I am working on a review for the MS Composit Swift II (wing) but you are correct that are main focus is on HH products. So if you have questions on other planes feel free to ask about them as well. I fly just about anything that has an electric motor and wings.

Victory Pete Welcome to HorizonRcFlyers, glad to have you aboard.
Very true the hobby these days is altogether opposite what it was years ago. Horizon Hobby, as well as a few others, have made this hobby easily approachable with a relatively inexpensive entry cost and in regard to Horizon Hobby as a whole a good quality and performing product.
Electric is the WAY man, yes I like the gas rumble as well, but it just isn't worth the mess IMO. I predict In 5 years the reducing cost of batteries for the larger planes will make gas a terrible alternative, much like large electrics 20 years ago were a terrible alternative to gas.
Welcome VP look forward to seeing you on!

Hi Wayne
Thanks for the welcome! Now we just need to get our personal vehicles away from gas! I am optimistic about the future of energy research and new resources. It is about time.

PS I am a tree hugger! Just not when my plane is in one!
