I have the E-Flite 2-3S Li Po Balancing Charger, 0.5-3A this has clips to hook up to a 12-volt battery. Will an AC adapter with a 12-volt dc output and 300ma work? I know a battery is 12 volts so I think this will work but I do not know what the milliamp output should be.

That should work... it just might be a little slow. You can remove the clips, add the push connectors and get a car ligther adapotr and charge it that way at the field....and if you power supply is like mine it has the single posts that are hollow that you can plug the push connectors into as well.

Take a look at my fix in this other thread. Note what I did with female banana plugs and the alligator clips:
The FEMALE banana plugs are slide down into rubber sockets (found at my friendly local RipOff Shack). When in the field, the alligators can be attached to the car battery and the charger plugged into the rubber sockets. Except for the alligators, all connections are down in the rubber sockets.

If the power supply can only put out 300 ma I don't think it's going to work for you. Can you set the charge rate or is it automatic? For example if you have a 1300 mah battery it should charge at 1.3 amps. It may work but it could damage the power supply.

it might hurt the power supply but one thing is for sure...it will be a slow charge. Some chargers will slow down the charge if they sense a low input voltage which is likely in this case.

My favorite charger is the Triton EQ as it can be plugged directly into the wall or connected to the car battery. Charges all types of batteris (lipo, A123, NICD, NIHM) and comes with a charger port and a balance charger port (that has the balancing taps for TP/FP and Electricfly lipos upto 5s).
