Here is Jeff (GBI Hobbies) flying his Pitts at the park... great flight. She flys like she is on rails with no bad tendencies...always great in a larger plane.

Its expensive ($900) but well worth it for a video camera... 1080 HD, 12x optical zoom (400x digital), 10.2 megapixel stills, night shot, steady shot. I got it specifically for planes

Good flying and ATIS as always outstanding video. Years of government training put to good use with your surveying skills.

Wayne, thanks for the compliments. When GBI_Guy pulled her out to fly I had him wait till I grabbed the video camera...I love the Pitts and figured everyone would love to see her fly. GBI_Guy is a better pilot then me and I was concerned I would be chasing the planes tail the entire video but he took it easy on the plane and me.:relieved:

I'm going to jump in and bring this thread back to life. I've been checking this plane out for a month now. I've always had a fascination with bi-planes and just a couple years ago, I flew in a 1940's Waco. It was awesome and the pilot was insane, my girlfriend and I were in front with him behind us. He told us give a "thumbs up" if you want more, my gf left her thumb up the whole time. I could have killed her then, but once I was back on the ground, I was hooked instantly. Anyway back to my question, anybody here have one and anything you can tell me other than the overview?
I've found a "used" one that's never been flown and I'm very serious about getting one, just for it's good looks.

Well, I'm the proud new owner of a Pitts!! Won it off Ebay, plane has never been flown. Comes with the Power 25, 60 amp E-Flite Pro ESC, Servos, Prop, Lipo battery, and receiver. I have to drive an hour to pick it up, and I'm working out the details with the Seller now. I'm so excited!! Now, nobody post any new products coming out, because this is getting EXPENSIVE!:)

Thanks, I can't wait. I've been wanting one, but I bid on this one, thinking I would not get it. I mean, I got all this for close to the same price as just the ARF kit . If it's as beautiful as the pics, I may be scared to fly it . Uhh, wait nevermind, I can't wait to fly it!!!

Its still there... I looked at it yesterday but it appears the owner damaged the underside of the tail and used white duct tape to fix it...which is why I havent bought it.

ATIS, is it damage? or looks like its tail weight to help nose over on grass or CG help..

Through some PM's with Bonez, I found out I got a SWEET deal on this Pitts. Man, I'm as excited about this as I was for the CZ. The guy I'm getting her from is selling off an estate for a widow friend of his. Supposedly, he has about 15 more planes and a lot of equipment. He's offered to let me pick through the rest, I'll keep everyone posted, cause I'm sure there's more deals to be had. If anyone's looking for anything particular, let me know before Sunday and I'll check to see if he's got it.

Normally Bi-planes are tail heavy so if its nose heavy something would seem off. Every Bi-plane I own I added weight in the cowling for.

Hey guys, I have a question about my new Pitts. According to the seller, the battery that's coming with it is a 20c 3s. The motor is a Power 25, 870kv. I'm not too fond of a 20c battery, so I want to get at least a 30c. Should I run her with a 4s or stay with a 3s? Specs on the Power 25 say 3-4 cells. I don't think I want to have a pure 3D set-up, I'm thinking of keeping her more of a sport plane. I'll have the CZ to practice 3D with and the Pitts for a beautiful sport flyer. I know for sure HK will be my battery supplier of choice, but which would you guys run? E-Flite suggests a 4200 3s for sport and a 2050-2070 4s for 3D.

I would stay on 3s... but I would buy Xtreme Power System lipos...higher C rating then you are looking for so you wont be able to work them over hard.

I was looking at XPS today when I first started thinking about what to do. I really like their 4000 mah 3s pack. 65 dollars each. The other option from HK was a 4000 mah 40c for around 30 bucks plus shipping.

ATIS

I prefer the XPS for systems that will stress the lipos. My XPS have taken a beating without issue and I have their older 25C lipos. I am looking to upgrade my Habu and SU34 to XPS lipos...I can go WOT longer without the worry of puffing them like my HK lipos.

Here's the pics of my new Pitts. Just as it was promised, all equipment included. She's brand new, canopy's not even glued on, aileron connectors are still in the bag, and ESC has not even been mounted. I'm so happy with this thing.

And like I promised, here's a link to the other goodies Jeff has for sale. I hope you guys can find something you like!

TAP, Did you buy one of Jim's personal planes. I'm still looking for a good electric Bi-plane. Any idea how I could get one liky yours and how much it might cost to have one built just like yours. I couldn't find any kits listed like that on Jims site. I did register, but that didn't help much.

Thanks,

Bert

Yeah, this is one of Jim's (the guy that passed away) planes. Jeff, owner of the website, is a friend of the family. He told me today that the Ultimate Bi-plane listed on the site under "Jim's planes" is still available. With the parts on this Pitts, I think you are looking at around $400 (ball-park). I bought this one off Ebay for a steal, not much more than just the ARF kit. Sometimes, it helps to wait around and keep your eyes open. If you are interested in the Ultimate, send Jeff an e-mail and tell him Jacob sent you.
