I fly at Creekside Park, New Bern, NC...google has a great pict but I cant figure out how to lock it that the park and link it here.
All grass with a gravel parking lot. Depending on where you fly you can expereince the fun of flying around very tall light poles for the soccer fields...sorta like pylon racing with arms!!

This is a photo from my airfield's website. I am new to the area and recently joined the Crow River R/C Aeromodelers. I have met a couple of the members and from them and the stories I have already heard this will be a great fit.

In addition to the great people, as you can see in the photo nice strip. The strip is a Tarpmac that is permanently in place year round, little snowy and chunky right now but nonetheless a great area. The field is rather expansive and many times larger than the view in this photo and I have had no problems of running out of space with the Apprentice. Not entirely accurate in all directions but one could nearly fly until out sight :o and still be on the grounds. Doing an estimate from longitude and latitude dimensions I would guess we have 160 acres maybe more of open field not to mention the forested areas.

This is the new field location with the dimensions we are trying to get here on base. It's looking pretty good so far.

I'm hoping to relocate this Dec or jan. I will be extremly busy the rest of the year starting in May but not soon enough. LOL
This is where I hope to make my RC home at next year.

QUOTE CRASHMASTER from Apprentice Flyers Forum;
This is the fields behind my house the road doesn’t have much traffic on it. The red lines are about 1300 feet x 2600 feet but the field is way bigger then the green lines. Also it’s the size on the other side of the road. Lots of room for now but when they plant crops I hope it’s peanuts again not corn.

The field there AV8TER65 that is in Jacksonville Florida is VERY NICE! I especially like the all encompassing multiple runways. Our runway runs west to east and all too often I have experienced a 10+mph crosswind which makes those nice gentle easy set-downs a bit more challenging.
I am not very in-tune with using the rudder in flight yet and flying sideways is not an art I have perfected....YET!

I am looking forward to it Wayne. If you checked out the site they host a great fly- in there as well that should be really cool.
You mention X-winds, I guess that's the good thing about the goat track i fly at right now, We can do cross wind landings, but i have to tell you, my flight sim with heavy wind induced is helping with the rudder landings.

I am not very rudder friendly yet on landings...

Biggest trick i have found so far is the nose when the bird is coming towards you is like looking at the wing, to correct go the other way. The trick is bleeding off speed, turning the nose in towards the wind, then worrying about elevator. :o TO much to remember sometimes.

Here's my runway, mesquite trees on one side, power lines on the other with a mail box and a couple of road signs thrown in for good measure. 21 feet wide.

As long as there are few travelers on the road it is straight and 21 feet wide by 2 miles long should be big enough...
Is there where you fly from usually? Not sure I like the Mesquite trees blocking your view of the field if that is where you fly over, yes obviously if you were 30' or higher there would be no issue but I like to hug the deck on the occasion.

Yep, that's my runway for the Apprentice and the Cub. I fly over the field to the right, or over the my house to the left. Low passes are done over the road.

I grew at the GRAMS (Greensboro, NC) field and soloed there. Airspace got restricted so my dad and I moved to CCRC (http://ccrcm.com) flew there for a long time. Went off to college, flew there on and off during breaks but mostly flew on RFG2. Definitely miss the open space and camaraderie of the club.
I am shopping around the Raleigh area for fields so I know where to join when I get a place big enough to store my slimers.
My manager flies with the Flying Tigers on Jordan Lake (http://www.ncflyingtigers.org/ -> website is a bit outdated) and is the closest to where I live.
I've visited RD-RC a couple of times. Nice field, but a long drive from where I live.
I mostly now just take my Blade CP out to the community park after the soccer, baseball, football, and T-Ball games that is just out the back door of my apartment. Sometimes I bring the Blade in and fly it in the parking lot of the receiving dock area during lunch (nothing fancy, just some simple forward flight circuits and hovering).
Definitely interested in learning of other flying sites in the Raleigh/Cary/Durham/Apex area of NC.

rcdude - you can go to the AMA website and find clubs around your area. I tend to do this if I'm going out of town and want to see other flying fields.

Yeah. I know. The clubs I listed in the Raleigh, NC, area. My problem is that my nitros are still at my parent's house because of space limitations where I live currently. So for me, it's hard to justify a drive to the field with my micros when I have the park beside me.

I can understand that. I lucky that my field is 10 minutes away and another is 15 minutes away.

Cool web site - I added my field for the world to see (Henderson RC Flying Field)
The T-28, Corsair, P-51, PT-19, or RV-9 are all great parkflyers that can be flown on a soccer field...and small enough to hang from the ceiling in an apartment :)

I didn't find the info for my area to be accurate; this is though:

All the grass around here is relatively long and the ground under it looks like miniature bomb craters.
Instead, we found a school parking lot bordered by some open [fly over] fields.
North of the parking lot the terrain is pretty clear so long final approaches are nice when winds are out of the south. However, most of the time the winds are from the north, north-west and you have to thread your way over, under, around and through the light poles and young trees to the south and east.
Your work isn't over once you touch down. The parking lot is surrounded on all sides by cement curbing --- you don’t just run off the end of the runway – you smash into a wall.

Here's the aerial shot of the community park where I fly my micros. I fly in the field on the left that has 1 ball park in the right corner. No stalking me because I had to reference my street address to find the park.
Map Here (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2200+golden+horseshoe+circle,+morrisville,+nc&sll=35.815647,-78.842729&sspn=0.004655,0.005622&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=2200+Golden+Horseshoe+Cir,+Morrisville,+Wake ,+North+Carolina+27560&ll=35.815455,-78.843094&spn=0.004655,0.005622&t=h&z=17)
When I get more time I'll post shots of RD-RC, The Flying Tigers of Jordan Lake, CCRC, and SWAMPS.

Wayne,
Was your feild closed (within the red circle) during the TFR imposed by BO's visit last Saturday?
Jim
WJCJR1

NOPE we are just outside the TFR zone.
MANY were affected I do see though.
Wayne
Yep; all TC sites that I know of -- Owatanna not.
Montrose is just inside the circle @ 12; your field (IIRC) @ Waverly jut to the west.
WJCJR1
10-27-2010, 06:27 PM
Yup Montrose and my house in the circle, the airfield NNW of Waverly just outside by a miles or maybe two.
