I'm not going to on much this next week. My grandmother just passed away today and we're going to have family coming into town. I'll check in from time to time.

What a weird feeling, the sadness of loosing my grandma, but thankful she doesn't have to deal with Alzheimer's anymore. I am/was close to my grandpa and grandma. Grandpa has dementia and forgets a lot of things. I'm not sure if he'll remember what happened yesterday, part of me hopes he does and part of me doesn't. It's hard to cope sometimes. The end of the month they would of had their 84th B-days and 65th wedding anniversary. Yes I said that right, they were both the same age, born on the same day and married on their birthday. The met in 1944 and eloped in 6 weeks, later had 4 daughters. One of my aunts was killed in a drunk driver accident July 4, 1998, which is my parent's wedding anniversary. I swear holidays suck for us.

"Yes I said that right, they were both the same age, born on the same day and married on their birthday."

That is so sweet. So much love. Much more the loss. My heart goes out to you.

Travis,

Our love ones pass, but never really leave us. When you’re a tight family and had so much time to spend together, it’s undeniable that they live on in you and the others they’ve touched throughout their years here with us.

Every time you turn a wrench or love your children the way they showed you, it shows that they’re still here. Miss them, but be thankful for knowing them and the time you had together.

Travis, I completely understand the closeness issue. My grandfather bought me my first plane back in 1980 (read:as the oldest grandchild and being a boy I got a lot of presents that I was more the excuse then the reason). It was a balsa P-40 with a 70"WS, nitro and had an Orange metal box TX...no expo, no DR's click trims!! It never flew but I spent alot of time making the control surfaces move. After he passed away I was watching TV late one night and caugh the RC show that Chris hosted and I went out the next day and bought a rc heli...and I havent looked back since. My mom came down to visit and looked at my planes and asked if that was becuase of Grandpa... all I could was say yes, he was the one that trigger the interest...and the reason why I joined the military. Loved ones never really leave, look around your life and you will find many things that you do or have an interest in that were inspired by them.
