Weather: Calm, low 70's CLEAR.
i fly fast. i did some lops today. i land the plane today.

So my son gave you his story. He made about a dozen olandings today, all landings near perfect. Ethan really has grown into quite a sprouting pilot.

Ethan is 10 and learned this spring to fly, he had many hours of simulator time and without doubt this advanced his learning process rapidly.

60-65 minutes flight time.
HobbyZone Super Cub
Crow River R/C Waverly, MN
Weather: Clear to partly cloudy, SE to SW winds 10 mph gusts to around 15.
i had a bumpy landing today. it was windy today. i saw some eaglestoday. i did someloops today. i went up high. my take off were good today.

My son flew well today, bit windy for him. He is learning a lot more of how to trim his plane. He confuses the wind with a trimming issue but we are working it out of him with more stick time.

Ethan had one dead-stick landing and did a fantastic job not wrecking his plane as when it died he was in a very inopportune position as compared to the runway. In addition on approach from this deadstick he had to to perform a very sharp 90* turn in a tight area and performed it very well, so he is settling in. Two months ago he would've caved so he is growing well.

This little thing has been in a box in my son's closet for 3+ years. The electricity went out at the house today for about an hour, we dived into the closet for some Board Games and came out with this little plane. The plane has a small LIPO inside and is charged via a cord from the TX. I was skeptical, we taped the wings on and put some stickers on and went to the field.

Upon first getting to the firls there were three people flying. I announce a hand-launch takeoff and toss it for him. It nosed in becuase he let go of the gas. Second launch after soem more coaching great now to turn, the 7mph winds were coming over a set of trees behind us so we were launching with the wind and to turn this little thing back into the wid was tough. He got it turned to not be able and turn again, he approached the flight line at about 15 feet up heading towards pilots and gave me the TX here Dad. I managed to get over the pilots, Sorry Jason!, felt dumb!!! Got the 'plane' turned and SORRY back over the pilots again and onto the field. That was about a 2 minutes fury and we decided to put it away until we had the field to ourselves.

After everyone left we flew the Estes for several 1 1/2 to 2 minute flights. Ethan became very good at learning how to steer the Estes which steers by thrust and has no moving control surfaces. Ethan managed a couple CONTROLLED figure 8's and a few nice landings. This thing is really kinda neat and after a few minutes of tinkering we were doing pretty darn good and for the $17-$19 dollars or so it cost three/four years back it wasn't a total waste of money and he's excited with it so he now has 2 planes and will happily tell you so!

Good afternoon at the field for Ethan and as his father I enjoyed seeing him learn to fly in a manner he is totally unaccustom to.

Ethan flew his SuperCub for about 15 minutes Sunday. I took off for him initially, trimmed and handed it over. After I handed it over he did a couple extended touch'n'go's. Ethan did a little more feeling it out, after a few month break from flying, then Ethan was off to a couple loops and some fly-byes. Ethan could have flown a few more minutes easily but was getting concerned as the gusts ere lasting longer and decided he wanted to go sledding with the other kids.

I think this will be a good year for him flying. Last year he solo'd and this year I thnk he's going to flourish into an even finer pilot. I expect to see him at the airfield often and it is probable he'll be getting a new plane this weekend as he has saved and is now ready to redeem his bahavior, karate and school reward points.
