Gosh it has been quiet here lately. After a flurry of activity this summer it seems everyone is either outside flying or in the basement building. Myself, I'm getting frustrated with opaque monocote. It seems there is a fine line between to cold to shrink and so hot it melts.

Quiet is an understatement... my "problem" is soccer season started and I coach 3 teams so I am on the field 6 days a week.

What are you trying to cover? If you seal the edges to balsa you can use a hair dryer to shrink it smooth. I touch up my balsa planes that way.....if they sit in the sun for too long they develop wrinkles.

I use temp setting 300 on my coverite iron for monocote and I've even gone higher. I've never had monocote melt though. I have had Hangar 9's covering melt and it doesn't have a very forgiving range but shrinks up quicker. For Hangar 9's covering I wouldn't use 300 maybe start at 250 or less.

Blessings,

Jay

The excessive immediate quiet I believe is due to many factors;

School just got started, families instantly overwhelmed and busy trying to reacclimate to school year.
End of summer Motorcycling.
Beginning of various hunting seasons.
Ending of northern tier states prime open water fishing.
Fall clean-up, planting beginning.
I would say the school thing is the largest single contributing factor but the other listed items and for sure many more end of summer items have their place as well.

Hang in there, fly your butt off and share your experiences!

I'm off to the field myself in a few minutes:)
