Now this was interesting. I had the plane up about 400' flying into the wind, the ground speed was about zero. Then suddenly a object appeared due to the sun light (it was near sun set) shinning on it. It was moving east to west very high and looked like a satellite but it's speed looked to fast for a satellite. It was only visible for about five seconds then here’s the neet part. About 15 seconds after I lost sight of it I heard a boom and the distant sound of a jet! I live in the country where it's quite. It had to be doing mach 2 or 3 and was probably around 60,000 to 70,000'
I have been an airplane watcher all my life and pilot for 29 years and have never seen anything like that before, very cool.

It is without doubt interesting what one sees when looking up. That is without awesome to hear? Any chance the space shuttle didn't land lately? Flies over Texas on it's way to Kennedy...

We often see Eagles, Hawks, Pelicans, Geese, Swans and Falcons. The Eagles, Falcons and Pelicans are routinely WAY up there. The hawks appear to stay lower. The Trumps have an awesome call sounds like a Horn you'd find in a Shakespeare play...

Wayne I'm glade you committed on what I posted. I'm 48 and like most on this site have gone through life with one eye looking up and the other looking where I'm going. The only time both my eyes are looking at the same thing is when I was flying::cheerful::
You're right, if you really look skyward often you will see some unusual things. I have seen a number of "UFO's" now everyone settle down, I'm not talking about little green men I'm talking about things like I saw the other day. It was flying and I can't identify it, so it's a unidentified flying object.
I'm pretty sure it was sub-space and because of the ratio to size and speed I'm pretty sure it was an aircraft. There is no telling what the gov. has out there flying, we don't even have a clue.
