Super busy with work, which obviously crunches family time as well so flying has taken a back seat. I see RCDUDE07 and Apprentice1 have been flying. Think of me when carving the air.

I know the feeling man. I went through major flight withdrawal during my college years. RF G2 kept my fingers in shape, but just wasn't the same as being at the field with the smells and sound of the hobby. Perhaps if you have a micro or indoor flyer you can grab some flights during your lunch breaks. When the weather is predicted to be nice, I bring either my Blade CP or ParkZone micro Sukhoi in and grab a flight or two in the grassy area by one of our holding ponds.

Here in Raleigh, NC, it's getting to be NC fall weather. Unpredictable temps, unpredictable winds, and getting darker sooner. I got spoiled during the summer of going out at 8pm and getting 2 full battery packs in on my Blade CP. With planning my March wedding, holidays, and work my stick time will be less as well. :thumbs down:

October IS RC flying time in central Texas (most of the winter really). Sometimes we will get a monster cold front where the north winds will blow for a few days must of the time the fronts move through and stall here giving us light winds starting about an hour before sunset and picking up again after sunrise. But that also causes fog and low ceilings. The day before yesterday I decided to fly, went inside and got the wing, rubber bands and TX went back to get the batt. and fuselage came out and it was a 1/4 mile in drizzle and fog! Missed that launch window! But then I got the Vapor out

Me too. Haven't flown since the North Central Regional IMAC finals.

I am planning on getting a micro 4-site as soon as they hit the shelves. Wayne-what do you think about getting some of the club guys together for some indoor flying?

I would love to do what GBI has been doing. Besides Nate's Heli and Terry's mini Cessna there aren't any other indoor guys ready to go.

I think it would be a blast.

First of all though I do fly all wainter when time allows. We have plenty of nice days left to the year, this weeks few inches of snow is not a end of the year event. SO I'd say let's try to get some people out while the weather still holds. This weekend 50*s are predicted and surely there'll be a few more nice ones as well. After mid November though there's no turning back and unlike what you'll see this winter not may dress up in full coverings to go flying. Nor do many like to HAVE to use 4WD to get to the landing strip, or put skis on their planes or brush off the tarmac...

SO yes this winter I'd be very interested to see if there is interest to try tot set something up indoor.

BTW where are you with regards to IMAC?

OK. I'll look into what it takes to get the high school gym for an evening every now and then.

The IMAC season finished up in September. All-in-all I think it went pretty well. I wound up in 5th for the North Central Region.

We got to the field in Wheeler, Indiana pretty late in the day on friday. I got the plane put together and got in line for a practice flight. It ended up being the last practice flight of the day and by the time I landed it was nearly night-time dark. In fact, the parking lot lights and street lights turned on during the flight.

I had two pretty good known flights on saturday - no zeros. They had a pig-roast and free beer after flying on Saturday (the event is sponsored by Miller). Sunday morning I drew the number 1 slot for the unknown and my engine wouldn't stay running. They moved me to the back of the line and me and a couple guys tore into the engine. We ended up checking the reed cage and a couple other things. Finally, we diagnosed it as needing some carb adjustment and new plugs. We got it bolted back together and fired up just in time for my flight - which sucked anyway.

The last known went good-no zeros. I think I took 5th for the event, or something like that.

BTW - next year's Twin Cities IMAC Classic is tentatively scheduled for June 12-13, 2010 with practice scheduled for June 11.

Jason I have to work today but am planning on being at the field for 3:30 or 3:45. Any chance of you going flying today? Been over two weeks for me and I am starting to get the shakes..

Ethan will likely be there too.

Bummer we just missed each other, heard you basically just left right before we arrived at the field.

I guess with my above post we had the exact same in mind LET'S GO FLYING! Was a great day, bit short on time but we still got enough flying in to make it a good time for the reflexes.

Ethan is doing great at his flying, still a bit of a steep climbout habit but he's doing better. At least now he gets the 450 powered Super Cub rolling before mashing the throttle, he used to just smack it and the plane would leap in the air I swear less than 2 feet from standing still.

Catch ya later,
Wayne

That is funny about Ethan's climbouts. To tell you the truth, I did more than a few of those on Saturday, too.

Terry was saying that Dan J. said he could get us time in the high school gymnasium this winter for some indoor flying.

Terry let me have a turn on his H9 F-22 on Saturday. Wow, is that a cool prop jet.

Yeah it flies nice, I forget what size but he has a strong motor in it too.
