No idea... I just like the looks. I will post info after RCDude names it. He PM'd me with the answer already but felt he "might have cheated" in getting the answer...I am good with how he figured it out. This hobby is about creativity and resourcefulness and he displayed both so I have to give it to him.

How'd I do it?
- Right Click Picture
- Left click Properties
- Grabbed the URL
- Navigated to the URL
Being computer savvy (degree in Computer Science) this why I felt I cheated.
Now the whole world knows. So for future posts, I recommend not posting a picture directly from a website.

I'm kind of biting my tongue here because I just got an email this week with a great link on some very rare aircraft that even my father had never seen. I like the game but this link has many aircraft to go through. I'd like to post the link if anyone is interested but I don't want to ruin the game.
God Bless,
Jay
Jay,
Save the link...you can use it to keep us guessing (and eductate us on those planes)!!

However I would like to make a very simple observation, the trainer models were the only ones fitted with the ski. The trainer model was used in training the pilots of this suicide machine. No landing device/gear was afforded the real deal mission rockets as they were intended as a single flight sacrificial attack machine.

Hmmm....I can think of a few "bugsmasher" (small civil aviation) planes that either myself or some of my buddies flew (or owned) that might be pretty tough to guess for folks who are mostly "warplane" fanatics. Still have my flight manual for one of them...I'll prep a pic from it on the scanner just in case I manage to get a turn here...

OK, name this one. This is the plane that I got my ATP checkride in. I was preparing to get out of the Air Force and apply to airlines, and the airlines wouldn't even talk to you if you didn't have an ATP. So I got some lessons in this plane to learn it, then scheduled a checkride with an FAA examiner. I remember that it cost $110/hr. for the plane, wet, with instructor (that was a long time ago!). This is a scan I made from the flight manual.

LOL, I actually took too long on that one because I was on the laptop upstairs and don't have that computer set up with the logon and cookies...I had to go grab my HorizonRCFlyers logon/PW...
Here's another sorta easy one from my experiences...
I got a ride in one of these planes (not that same one; that's a photo I found on the web) from a co-student in UPT (Air Force pilot tng.). He actually owned the plane (probably was making payments)...but as I found out later, he still only had a student license, and that meant he wasn't supposed to fly passengers (he didn't tell me that). That was my introduction to what a ditz the fella was (he ended up washing out of UPT).
I'm looking for the specific name of this model.

10-25-2009, 09:09 AM
Yep, my friend told me his plane was a Piper Colt, and that's what I remember it looking like (except his looked old, drab, and well-weathered). And it didn't need the flaps...when we came back to land, it was at a short dirt crop-duster strip, and there was a pretty good crosswind. Instead of crabbing on final, he came in diagonal to the runway and said "watch me parallel park this thing." I wanted to close my eyes! But he put it down gently, and didn't use but a small piece of the runway for landing roll.
I picked that photo both because it shows the lack of flaps, and because of the Super-Cub type of paint job for a little trickery. :)

How about 2:
1) Is from a known American aircraft manufacturer
2) Look at the registration number under the wing, X ? ? ? N, that's only 1000 different number combinations :)
Al Mooneys A-2, M-5 that he used to attempt transcontinetial flight from CA to NY... but only made it to Fort Wayne IN when his fuel pump failed
WingingIt74
10-29-2009, 01:42 PM
Finally! Did you go through all 463 numbers?
A-2, M-5 1930 = Similar to A-1 with 125hp Kinner B-5; span: 36'6" length: 21'0" load: 1000#. POP: 1 [X463N], flown by Al Mooney on a non-stop transcontinental attempt from Glendale CA to Long Island NY as a promotional effort, but only made it to Fort Wayne IN when his fuel pump failed.
There are only 5 websites with that plane mentioned ;) and that's the only pic known.

R.A.F. B.E.8
This was the last of the B.E. (Bleriot Experimental, and then British Experimental) series built by the Royal Aircraft Factory. Compared to the B.E.2, it had a more powerful rotary engine, but otherwise was quite similar. It could only carry a 100 lb. (45 kg.) bombload, even less with a two-man crew. A few were sent to France, but most were used in a training role.

Correct on the Falcon 50! I thought that particular shot would put a little challenge into it anyway. I always thought the Falconjet was so cute...like a baby 727. Used to see them all the time at the Miami airport, on the other side of the runway from the terminal. Never yet seen an RC model of one.

I looked at literally thousands of photos for that XF-88b. I found lots of UK Hybrid jets, some VERY similar to the XF-88b, but that US Hybrid hid real well.
I do mean thousands of photos, BTW. Bet my temporary internet file folder is about to erupt!
So now with all these resources illuminated out there, bring it on :clapping:. Without doubt it'll just be another few thousand photos and information overload.
Also in my quest for the answer I got stopped by some RC videos of some cool looking 'planes'.
So with that, Radioflyer looks you're up what you got?

Here's another type of plane owned by a fellow airman of mine in the USAF (he was a navigator). Actually, he said he had half ownership in one of these. I never got a ride in his plane or even saw it, but out of curiosity I did look it up in a book to see what it looked like. After somebody ID's it I'll tell a funny little story...

Piper Aztec
herk1
11-01-2009, 09:14 PM
Aztec it is. I thought someone might guess Apache...but that funny big nose is different (as well as the tail).
I've never done private flying for pleasure. I went into the USAF knowing very little about private planes (still don't!), other than a short flight-lessons program they put us thru in ROTC. Fast forward to several months after I got out of the USAF; I'm on a trip as a new-hire Second Officer, sitting in the cockpit of a 727 for the airline I fly with, and we're nearing the hold line for takeoff at MIA. At the same time, from the other side of the field (from the same civil-aviation ramp that I used to often see the Falconjets) comes this little bitty twin bug-smasher airplane, and I instantly recognized/recalled it from the pictures, as that same plane the navigator half-owned, with that distinctive, long bulbous nose. One of the other two pilots (very senior airline pilots who I was kind of imtimidated by, since I was still a pretty raw new-hire) says "...hey, anybody know their private-planes?...what is that little thing?" I just said "Aztec" in a matter-of-fact way without explanation. Then right after I said that, the private-plane pilot comes up on the radio and says "Aztec four Yankee-Bravo ready for takeoff." Copilot turns around and looks at me with arched eyebrows and slowly nods his head in approval.
First and only Aztec I ever saw... :)

That plane looks like a contradiction. Ordinary, stodgy light-twin wing, fuse, and tail...but capped off with a sleek racy sport-plane sliding canopy. Doesn't look fast enough to be much of a sport plane. But having to climb in the cockpit like you do in a fighter-plane is an inconvenience to the kind of people and their families who would be using a plane like that. Maybe that's why it's so hard to find!

Yes that was a puzzler to find. When searching for it, there were countless times when I thought I had found it when I saw that same canopy in a photo...then I dismissed it when I realized the photo was of a single-engine plane. Finally the combination of that 40s-looking tail and the canopy made me investigate that further. (but some of them have a more modern-looking tail, too)
OK, here's another from my personal photo collection. And more proof that I'm not a very good photographer!
