Review coming.
This plane was #2 on the poll for which airplane HRf members cared to see reviewed. I have had the E-Flite EXTRA 300 32e and all it's components for about 3 weeks now give or take a few days.
Unfortunately the build has progressed none. I have taken a look at the airplane a couple times and all looks great. The balsa and ply construction looks and feels solid, covering is once again just like the POGO awesome and the parts count is very low. Other than a greater number of hinges to install the kit looks to be an easier build.
I was susprised by the size of the E-Flite Extra 300, for example the cowl and front 1/3rd of the fuselage are 7.50" in diameter. Raw she is very light though. Lots and lots of room for battery placement, styles, types etc. The firewall is contructed very strong and more importantly or more conveniently the flexible motor mount on the plane makes for alternative motors a snap. This expandable/contractable style motor mount makes for quick, easy and convenient power plant swaps/installations. It is always a pain when one wants to use a different motor other than specified and you have to purchase or fashion an adapter.
There are a couple fairings that cover up some body mating lines that should give the EXTRA a nice cut look and reduce air disruption.
The control surfaces are long and large. The rudder will without doubt deflect some serious air with a very large surface and 3" recommended 3D deflection! The tailfeathers are airfoil shaped and I expect this will grant the EXTRA a very strong sense of direction. This will be my first aerobatic 3D airplane, I am expecting this plane will become a favorite of mine very quickly.
My son goes on vacation here in a few days, if I have not got to the EXTRA by then I will have some time I can dedicate at this point. GE is keeping me hopping around, which is good $, I expect this will continue so not lots of free time.
